Last October, I attended the Alzheimer Europe Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I spent three busy but lovely days there. The conference ended on a Friday so I decided to take the opportunity to travel to Lake Bled for the weekend since it was just a short bus journey away.
We booked a little room in a place called Rooms Jerman on booking.com. It looks a little disorganised from the outside but the rooms are spotless and the location was perfect for us. When booking, I chose the most basic cheapest room but asked (in the comments section) for a room with a nice view if possible. When we arrived, the lovely woman who runs the apartments gave us a more expensive apartment with a beautiful view at no extra charge because it hadn’t been booked for that night. (Edit: My parents stayed there about two months later and thought it was lovely too).
Sadly we only had a day and a half in Bled but we managed to fit plenty in. Spurred on by a boat of Asian tourists, we got into the lake. They took plenty of photos too so that’s probably the closest I’ll ever come to being a celebrity… We also got a Pletna boat over to Bled Island and Church (where someone was getting married!), hiked up to Bled Castle, walked around the lake a couple of times, and sampled the famous Lake Bled Cream Cake.
Genuinely one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and I can’t wait to go back.
